Patraiki | Greece
The distinguished history of the Patra Union of Farming Cooperatives dates back to 1918, the year of its founding. The farmers of the Achaea region were among the first to appreciate the necessity of pooling their resources in growers' cooperatives; they came together to create the necessary conditions for growing and marketing their produce.
Many years later their tradition of common endeavour has been enriched by specialist knowledge and contemporary wine-making technology, but still retains the original and distinctive enthusiasm which is the greatest guarantee of quality of the selected wines produced by PATRAIKI.
The company has its offices in Patra, the 4th largest city in Greece, just 500 metres from the new port, the main gateway to Greece from the West.
Throughout its history Patra has played a vital role in the country's economic, cultural and social life, and is now also a major base for tourists wishing to visit areas and sites of special archaeological importance: Olympia, Delphi, Mycenae, Epidaurus and Athens…
The PATRAIKI company employs the very latest in technological equipment and applies the most advanced methods of cultivation and processing to create wines from traditional varieties of grape, varieties which flourish only in the countryside around the city of Patra.
The wines produced from these grapes have earned the acclaim of consumers of fine wine both here and abroad - consumers who demonstrate their appreciation on an everyday basis.
PATRAIKI WINES offer the consumer a full and extensive range of labels, whose rich flavours and exquisite fragrances satisfy even the most demanding of palates.
Dry, semi-dry and semi-sweet wines, table wines and wines of designated origin - not forgetting, of course, the world-renowned Patra Mavrodaphne and Muscat - all examples of the rich and versatile repertory of wines produced by PATRAIKI.
All the grapes we use in our wines are grown on more than 20.000 hectares of vineyards, where they are tended and nurtured by our producers all across the Prefecture of Achaea. Our remarkable wines, appreciated here in Greece and around the world, owe their quality to the ideal growing conditions of the region, the rigorous standards applied by our growers and the careful supervision of highly trained experts.
Our associate vine growers have been certified, by auditors of TUV HELLAS, with AGRO 2-1 and AGRO 2-2 for the proper management agricultural in cultivation.
